Chapter 5 - The Hawaiian Horror

Thousands of miles away, standing in the lobby of a luxury Hawaiian resort, Nathan frowned deeply.
"What do you mean?" Nathan asked, completely confused. "Is she sick?"
"She isn't with me, Nathan," Evelyn replied flawlessly, entirely destroying his luxury vacation in a single sentence. "I am standing in your kitchen in Chicago. Molly has been completely alone in this house for three days."
The line went breathlessly, terrifyingly silent.
Nathan stopped breathing. The cinematic realization hit him with the force of a nuclear bomb. He slowly lowered his sunglasses, turning to look at his beautiful, perfectly styled new wife, Andrea, who was happily sipping a mimosa near the resort doors.
"That's impossible," Nathan choked out, his voice a panicked, breathless whisper. "Andrea personally drove her to your house on Tuesday morning."
"Andrea lied to you," Evelyn stated lethally. "And she texted me on Tuesday claiming you took Molly on the trip. She intentionally abandoned a twelve-year-old child to starve in an empty house."
Nathan’s entire reality violently collapsed into dust. He looked at Andrea, his eyes widening in pure, unadulterated horror. The woman he had married wasn't just selfish; she was a dangerous, calculating monster.
