Chapter 2 - The Red Light

The cinematic tension in the grand foyer was completely paralyzing.
Lorenzo didn't dismiss the child. A man didn't survive at the absolute apex of the criminal underworld by ignoring warnings, even from a six-year-old.
He held the necklace up to the bright natural lighting pouring through the window. He stared intently at the fourth pearl. For three agonizing seconds, it looked exactly like a flawless, deep-sea gem.
And then, it happened.
From deep inside the translucent core of the pearl, a tiny, microscopic red light blinked once.
Lorenzo’s blood turned to absolute ice. The calm, handsome billionaire completely vanished. The lethal, untouchable apex predator fully awakened.
It wasn't a pearl. It was a state-of-the-art, military-grade GPS tracking device, flawlessly disguised to blend in with the multi-million-dollar necklace.
If Lorenzo had placed that necklace on Isabella and taken her to the highly classified syndicate meeting later that night, his rival cartels would have known the exact coordinates of his most secure safehouse. They would have massacred everyone inside.
Suddenly, heavy, frantic footsteps echoed down the marble staircase.
Anna, the thirty-year-old gardener wearing dirty work trousers, rushed into the foyer. Her face was completely pale with sheer, unadulterated terror as she saw her daughter standing face-to-face with the ruthless mafia boss.
