Chapter 4 - The Fake Smile

Lorenzo didn't pull a weapon. He didn't order his guards to drag Isabella down the stairs.

He snapped the black velvet box shut with a sharp, echoing click. He smiled—a cold, merciless, terrifying smile that completely masked the demonic wrath boiling inside his veins.

"It's nothing, my love," Lorenzo called up to Isabella smoothly, completely devoid of his true emotions. "Just a smudge on the clasp. The child was just being observant."

Isabella visibly relaxed, letting out a fake sigh of relief. She gracefully walked down the marble steps, completely unaware that she had just signed her own death warrant.

"You shouldn't let the help touch expensive things, darling," Isabella sneered, walking past Anna and Sophie with absolute disgust. She reached out to take the velvet box from Lorenzo.

But Lorenzo smoothly pulled his hand back, slipping the box into his suit pocket.

"I'll hold onto it until we reach the venue," Lorenzo stated flawlessly. "I wouldn't want you to lose it."

Isabella frowned slightly, but she didn't argue. "Of course, darling. Are we ready to go?"
