Chapter 3 - The Treacherous Fiancée

Lorenzo didn't yell. The cinematic realism of his total, icy restraint was infinitely more terrifying than a screaming match.
He slowly stood up, holding the open velvet box in his hands.
He looked past the terrified gardener. Standing at the top of the grand marble staircase was Isabella. She was an elegant, breathtaking woman in her thirties, wearing a stunning white evening gown that cascaded down the steps.
Isabella clutched the marble railing, her face twisted into a mask of absolute, highly rehearsed shock. She played the role of the innocent, horrified fiancée flawlessly.
"Lorenzo, darling, what is going on?" Isabella called out, her voice trembling perfectly. "Why is the gardener's child touching my jewelry?"
A tight, cinematic close-up captured Lorenzo’s face. His tactical mind instantly processed the horrifying reality.
Only two people in the entire world had access to the master safe where that necklace was kept: Lorenzo, and Isabella. Furthermore, Isabella had explicitly insisted on wearing this specific necklace tonight, aggressively demanding that the gardener bring it down rather than the armed security team.
Lorenzo realized he was sleeping next to a monster.
Isabella wasn't a loving fiancée. She was a highly embedded traitor, actively feeding his location to his enemies to orchestrate his assassination.
An extreme close-up captured Lorenzo’s dark eyes. He slowly lowered the pearl necklace. His cold, lethal gaze shifted entirely onto the beautiful woman at the top of the stairs.
