Chapter 6 - The Prisoner Revealed

Medium close-up: The jagged, splintered wood broke away, allowing the bright, colorful light from the stained-glass windows to finally pierce the absolute darkness of the hidden cavity behind the flowers.
There, sitting on the cold, damp stone floor, completely hidden from the hundreds of wealthy wedding guests, was a woman.
It was the Real Mother. It was Sarah.
She was a beautiful woman in her thirties, but she was in an absolutely horrific, agonizing condition. Her hair was tied back tightly, matted with dirt and sweat. She was wearing a faded, light-colored dress that was completely covered in grime. Her face was heavily bruised, swollen with dark purple marks from a brutal, recent beating. Her hands and feet were bound incredibly tightly with thick, abrasive ropes, and she was aggressively gagged with a thick white cloth tied securely around her mouth, rendering her completely incapable of screaming for help.
She hadn't run away to Europe with another man. She hadn't stolen the ten million dollars.
For the past three entire months, while her husband grieved and her daughter cried herself to sleep, Sarah had been kept completely prisoner. She had been brutally tortured, starved, and hidden away in dark basements while a monster systematically dismantled her life, stole her identity, and manipulated her husband into handing over the keys to his entire corporate empire.
Sarah looked out through the jagged hole in the wood, her dark, exhausted eyes completely widening in profound, overwhelming shock and sheer, desperate relief as she saw her husband and her daughter standing right in front of her.
She let out a muffled, agonizing sob through the thick white cloth.
