Chapter 2 - The Stolen Legacy

To understand why a billionaire was mocking a maid in front of Manhattan's elite, one had to understand the terrifying level of Alexander's greed.
Lena wasn't actually a maid. Her real name was Eleanora Sterling.
This magnificent ballroom, the towering Manhattan skyscraper it sat inside, and the multi-billion-dollar real estate empire hosting the party didn't belong to Alexander. They had belonged to Lena’s late father. Alexander had been her father's trusted protégé, the handsome young executive groomed to help run the company.
But when Lena’s father passed away suddenly under highly suspicious circumstances six months ago, Alexander produced a "new" will.
The forged document left the entire Sterling fortune, the company, and all the properties directly to Alexander. Lena, the rightful sole heir, was entirely cut out, left with absolutely nothing. Alexander aggressively seized control, freezing her bank accounts and laughing as she was escorted out of her own childhood home by corporate security.
He thought he had won. He thought the sheltered, quiet daughter would just disappear in defeat.
He severely underestimated her. Lena hadn't spent the last six months crying. She had spent it plotting. She used a fake identity to get hired by the estate's new cleaning service, infiltrating her own home to find the one thing that could send Alexander to federal prison: her father's original, unaltered will.
Tonight was the grand corporate gala. Alexander was officially celebrating his complete takeover of the Sterling empire.
