Chapter 10 - The Fall from Grace

"Garrett, please," Celeste sobbed, abandoning all dignity as she knelt on the floor, ignoring the sharp shards of porcelain digging into her knees. "I didn't know! I swear I didn't know! Give me another chance!"
Garrett looked down at her with absolute disgust. "Take off the necklace."
Celeste froze, her hands frantically gripping the heavy diamonds around her neck. "No, please—"
"Take it off," Laura commanded, her voice slicing through the air like a blade. "That heirloom belongs to the women of this family. You are nothing but a temporary mistake."
With shaking, clumsy fingers, Celeste unclasped the necklace. The heavy diamonds slipped from her neck, and Garrett caught it before it could touch the floor. He handed it respectfully to his sister.
"Throw her out," Garrett said to the heavy-set guards who had just silently appeared at the end of the corridor. "She leaves with nothing but the dress she’s wearing. If she ever speaks my family's name again in this city, cut her tongue out."
"No! Please! I love you!" Celeste’s frantic screams echoed off the high ceilings as two massive men dragged her backward, her expensive high heels scraping helplessly against the marble. The heavy front doors opened, and she was violently thrown out into the cold night, the doors slamming shut with absolute finality.

The corridor returned to silence. Laura reached down, carefully picking up a piece of the broken urn, her expression softening into quiet mourning. Garrett placed a comforting hand on his older sister’s shoulder, the unbreakable bond of family completely restored.
If you were Laura, would you have revealed your identity on the first day, or was letting Celeste expose her own toxic nature the only way to protect your brother?
