Chapter 4 - The Silent King

Garrett stepped fully into the light of the crystal chandeliers.
He was a terrifyingly handsome man in his early thirties, radiating a cold, lethal energy that demanded absolute submission. He wore a sharp black suit, but his black dress shirt was unbuttoned at the collar, exposing the dark, intricate ink of his syndicate chest tattoos. A faint shadow of stubble lined his strong jaw.
In the criminal underworld, Garrett was known as a man with zero tolerance for disrespect. He ruled his empire with iron and blood.
Celeste immediately played her part. Tears welled up in her eyes, her posture shifting from aggressive to fragile and victimized. She looked at her powerful fiancé, expecting him to draw his weapon or instantly order his guards to drag the maid away to the basement.
But Garrett did not yell. He did not pull a gun. He did not even flinch.
His dark, calculating eyes shifted calmly from his humiliated, crying fiancée to the maid standing in the center of the corridor. His expression was completely cold and impassive. There was no rage. There was no sudden, violent movement. He just stood there, his hands resting casually in his pockets, watching the scene unfold with cinematic realism.
He did not move a single inch to intervene.

The silence in the hallway became deafening. The lack of action from the most dangerous man in the city was infinitely more terrifying than if he had started screaming. It created a suffocating tension that wrapped tightly around Celeste’s throat. Why wasn't he defending her? Why wasn't he ripping this servant apart?
👉 The boss’s silence was unnerving, but the maid was about to speak, and her words would shock everyone in the room.
