Chapter 5 - The Maid's Warning

Despite standing mere feet away from the most dangerous syndicate boss in the country, Laura did not tremble. She didn't drop to her knees and beg for her life. She didn't offer frantic apologies or try to explain away her actions.

Instead, she stood her ground.

The dark-haired woman in the messy bun slowly lowered her hand, her realistic facial micro-expressions showing absolutely zero remorse for the violent slap she had just delivered. She squared her shoulders, her posture radiating an icy, unshakable confidence that seemed entirely impossible for someone wearing a cheap black and white uniform.

Laura turned her gaze away from the silent mafia boss and glared right back at Celeste. Her slow eye movement locked onto the blonde woman’s panicked face, completely dominating the psychological space between them.

She took a small pause, breathing naturally, before delivering her next words.

"The floor is a hazard," Laura said, her voice calm, firm, and echoing with restrained authority.

It wasn't an excuse. It was a command. She was looking at the future wife of a billionaire kingpin and speaking to her like a disappointed mother scolding a misbehaving child.

Celeste felt her stomach drop. Her mind spiraled into absolute chaos. This made no sense. The maid should be crying. The maid should be pleading for mercy from Garrett. Instead, she was standing tall, completely unbothered, as if she owned the very marble she was standing on.

The fear that had been gnawing at the edge of Celeste’s mind suddenly bloomed into full-blown panic. The hierarchy of the room was fundamentally broken, and she had no idea why.

👉 Celeste was losing her grip on reality, and in her panic, she was about to make a fatal mistake.
