Chapter 1 - The Stone Wall Humiliation

The opulent stone steps outside the grand American wedding venue were lined with lavish, wildly expensive floral arrangements. But the breathtaking beauty of the estate was completely eclipsed by the toxic, suffocating cruelty of the guests standing near the entrance. Delaney, a beautiful woman in her late twenties wearing a simple, elegant deep-green dress, sat on a low stone wall. Her hands trembled slightly in her lap as she fought back devastating tears of public humiliation.
Standing just a few feet away was Aunt Beatrice, an older woman dripping in diamonds and formal attire. Beatrice pointed a manicured finger directly at Delaney and let out a sharp, malicious laugh that echoed across the courtyard.
"Look at her cheap dress!" Beatrice mocked loudly, making sure the entire crowd of elite wedding guests could hear. "Who would want someone like that? She actually thought she belonged at a high-society wedding!"
The surrounding guests erupted into cruel, apathetic laughter.
But Declan completely ignored his vicious family. The thirty-something man, wearing a sharp dark suit, immediately dropped to one knee on the hard stone right beside Delaney. A jagged, faded scar ran down the side of his handsome face, a permanent reminder of a tragic past. He didn't yell at the crowd. He focused entirely on the woman he loved. He reached out, placing a gentle, fiercely protective hand over her trembling arm.

"Don't listen to them," Declan whispered quietly, his deep voice radiating a steady, unbreakable calm.
👉 Delaney swallowed her tears, entirely unaware that the bride and groom were marching outside to make the nightmare infinitely worse.
