Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Disgrace

"Gideon, do something!" Vanessa screamed, hitting her groom in the chest.
"I don't have any money!" Gideon sobbed hysterically, dropping to his knees beside Aunt Beatrice, his perfect black tuxedo covered in dirt. "He took everything!"
Vanessa’s face twisted in sheer, toxic horror. She looked at Gideon with absolute disgust, realizing she had just married a penniless fraud.
In a move of absolute, sickening desperation, Vanessa violently shoved Gideon away. She grabbed the heavy skirts of her white wedding dress and sprinted down the stone steps, throwing herself directly at Declan.
"Declan, wait!" Vanessa wept fake tears, trying to reach out and touch his dark suit. "I made a mistake! Gideon manipulated me! I never stopped loving you! We can be together again! You're a billionaire now!"
Declan didn't even flinch. He didn't raise his hand.
Delaney, who had been standing quietly in her deep-green dress, finally stepped forward. She didn't scream or act crazy. She radiated a quiet, untouchable, and fiercely protective power.
Delaney calmly raised her hand and forcefully slapped the crystal champagne glass right out of Vanessa’s hand. The glass shattered violently across the gravel.
"Don't ever touch my husband again," Delaney stated flawlessly, her voice echoing with undeniable authority.
Vanessa staggered back, completely humiliated, her jaw literally unhinging as she stared at the beautiful woman she had just mocked.

Declan looked at Vanessa with pure, unfiltered pity. "She loved me when I had nothing but scars. You only love me because of a bank account. Enjoy your new husband, Vanessa. You two completely deserve each other."
👉 Declan turned his back on the screaming bride, completely focused on the only woman who actually mattered.
