Chapter 5 - The Black Car

The cinematic realism of the suffocating tension gripped the stone courtyard.
Aunt Beatrice and the surrounding guests continued to point and laugh, completely devoid of human empathy, entirely convinced that the scarred outcast was about to walk away in total, undeniable disgrace.
An extreme close-up captured Declan looking directly into Delaney’s vulnerable eyes.
"Let's go," Declan said firmly.
He gently took Delaney’s hand and helped her stand up. But they didn't walk toward the main gates. They didn't hang their heads in shame and retreat into the shadows.
Instead, Declan led her straight down the stone steps, walking with a slow, heavy, and absolutely terrifying confidence.
Just as they reached the bottom of the steps, the loud, aggressive crunch of gravel shattered the cruel laughter of the crowd. A massive, heavily armored black luxury car aggressively tore up the private driveway, completely ignoring the valet attendants. The vehicle slammed on its brakes, stopping exactly two feet away from where Declan and Delaney were standing.
Gideon frowned, his smug smile faltering for a microsecond. "Hey! Who authorized that vehicle to park there?!"
The heavy, tinted back door of the black luxury car swung open. A sophisticated, older man in a sharp, thousand-dollar legal suit stepped out onto the gravel. He completely ignored the screaming groom in the black tuxedo.
