Chapter 7 - The Debt Collector

"What is he talking about, Gideon?" Vanessa panicked, violently grabbing her groom's tuxedo jacket. "Who is that lawyer?!"
Gideon couldn't answer. He was hyperventilating, staring at the black luxury car and the thick legal documents in his brother's hands.
Declan slowly opened the leather folder.
"You see, Gideon, you are a terrible businessman," Declan announced flawlessly, taking a slow, deliberate step back up the stone stairs. "Over the last two years, you took out five massive, high-interest loans against the family estate and the corporate holdings just to fund your pathetic lifestyle and this ridiculous wedding."
Gideon physically staggered backward, his chest heaving. "How... how do you know about the loans?"
"Because you didn't read the fine print on who was buying your debt from the banks," Declan whispered coldly.
The cinematic realism of the absolute, crushing betrayal completely paralyzed the wealthy crowd.
"I bought your debt, Gideon," Declan stated, his voice a freezing, lethal frequency. "Every single cent of it. I own the loans on the family company. I own the loans on your luxury cars. And, most importantly, I hold the primary mortgage on this exact wedding venue."
Aunt Beatrice let out a horrific, high-pitched gasp of pure terror. The entire family had banked their social status on Gideon’s fake wealth, completely oblivious to the fact that they were heavily leveraged and entirely bankrupt.

👉 Declan pulled out a pen, entirely ready to permanently erase his cruel family from the map.
