Chapter 7 - The Manager's Loyalty

The heavy footsteps of the elite hotel general manager echoed loudly against the marble stairs. He sprinted to the landing, flanked by four massive, heavily armed corporate security guards.
Avalene desperately tried to salvage her shattered reality. She pointed a trembling finger at Thea.
"Manager!" Avalene panicked loudly, her voice cracking. "This waitress assaulted me! Have her arrested! And... and get this wheelchair out of my way!"
The manager didn't even look at the bride. He completely bypassed Avalene and Callum, stopping directly in front of the elderly woman in the wheelchair. He immediately bowed his head in profound, absolute respect.
"Madam Sterling," the manager stated formally, his voice carrying clearly across the silent ballroom. "Are you injured? Do you require medical assistance?"
"I am perfectly fine, Thomas," Rowena replied smoothly, her cold authority completely dominating the massive room. "Thanks entirely to this brave young woman."
Rowena gently reached out and took Thea's trembling hand. The young waitress was still crying, completely overwhelmed by the terrifying situation, but the billionaire matriarch looked at her with pure, genuine gratitude.
Avalene’s jaw dropped in sheer, undeniable horror as she finally realized her husband wasn't exaggerating. The old woman she had just relentlessly verbally abused was the sole owner of the very building they were standing in.
