Chapter 6 - The Rival Meeting

As Elias held his smartphone, the screen remained dark for a fraction of a second.

While Greg, Chloe, and Mark had been spending their entire weekend at luxury golf courses and elite wine tastings, bragging about their stolen success, Elias had been in a very different kind of room.

He had flown to Seattle for a closed-door, highly classified meeting with the board of directors of Apex International—the largest, most ruthless tech conglomerate in the world, and Riverton Technologies' absolute biggest corporate rival.

The Apex engineers hadn't looked at Elias's code and called it "garbage."

They had looked at his data compression patent, and the entire boardroom had gone dead silent in pure, unadulterated awe. They realized his new algorithm was going to completely revolutionize global cloud storage, rendering Riverton Technologies' current software completely, irreversibly obsolete by the end of the fiscal quarter.

They hadn't offered him a promotion. They had offered him an acquisition.

Elias stood in the morning sunlight, the three arrogant bullies still laughing in his face.
