Chapter 4 - The Vicious Slap
The heavy, intoxicating silence of the grand ballroom was suddenly broken by Julian taking a slow, heavy step forward.
Cassandra noticed the terrifying, intense look in her fiancé’s dark eyes. She saw him staring at the tiny girl in the pink dress, and genuine, apocalyptic panic violently seized her chest. She realized Julian was starting to recognize the child.
Desperate to stop the revelation, Cassandra stormed aggressively onto the gleaming marble floor, her gold gown swishing loudly.
"Enough of this pathetic joke!" Cassandra shrieked wildly, completely abandoning her elegant, high-society persona.
She lunged forward and aggressively grabbed Lily by her tiny arm, yanking the four-year-old child backward. Lily let out a terrified cry, dropping her stuffed rabbit onto the cold marble floor.
The sound of her daughter crying completely shattered Nora's paralyzing fear. The terrified maid violently transformed into a fiercely protective mother. Nora sprinted across the floor, physically shoving the wealthy heiress away from her child.
"Don't you ever touch her!" Nora roared, her maternal instinct completely overriding the billionaire's blackmail.

Cassandra’s face turned violently red. How dare a filthy servant humiliate her in front of the city's elite? Without a single microsecond of hesitation, Cassandra raised her hand and violently slapped Nora across the face. The sickening crack echoed through the crystal-lit room.
