Chapter 8 - The Merger Trap

"No! That's impossible!" Cassandra wailed, desperately reaching for the red folder. "My father's lawyers checked everything! The merger is completely bulletproof!"
"It is bulletproof," Julian whispered smoothly, a chilling, victorious smirk touching the corner of his lips. "But you clearly didn't read the fine print your father forced me to sign yesterday."
The cinematic realism of the suffocating, paralyzing tension completely electrified the grand ballroom.
Julian looked directly at the pathetic monster kneeling on the marble floor.
"Your father was so arrogant, so utterly confident that I was completely broken," Julian announced, "that he drafted the merger to transfer fifty percent of your family's entire corporate empire directly into the name of 'Julian's legal, documented wife.'"
Cassandra physically stopped breathing. The air in the opulent room was completely sucked out.
"He assumed that would be you after tonight's engagement announcement," Julian continued coldly. "But because the death certificate is void, Nora is my legal wife. Which means your father just legally, irreversibly transferred half of your multi-billion-dollar empire directly to the maid standing in the center of the room."

Cassandra let out an apocalyptic shriek of pure, unadulterated terror. She had spent a month sadistically humiliating a woman in a black and white uniform, completely unaware that she was actively handing that exact woman the keys to her entire kingdom.
👉 Julian pocketed the contract, entirely ready to completely remove the trash from his ballroom.
