Chapter 9 - The Federal Guillotine
"I'll sue you! I'll destroy you both!" Cassandra screamed hysterically, thrashing wildly on the floor, her sparkling gold gown completely ruined by her public disgrace.
"You aren't going to sue anyone," Julian replied, looking down at her with pure, unfiltered disgust. "Because extortion and threatening to kidnap a child are federal crimes."
Right on cue, the heavy mahogany doors of the grand ballroom violently swung open.
Four heavily armed federal agents marched directly into the opulent room. Julian’s private security team had already handed over the hidden audio recordings of Cassandra's sick blackmail threats against Nora from the previous weeks. The agents completely bypassed the shocked, wealthy billionaires and walked straight up to the weeping heiress.
"Cassandra Hayes," the lead federal agent barked loudly, aggressively grabbing her by the arms. "You are under arrest for extortion, conspiracy to commit fraud, and criminal blackmail."
"Julian, please! I love you!" Cassandra sobbed pathetically as the heavy steel handcuffs snapped loudly around her wrists, completely stripping her of her fake wealth, her pride, and her freedom.

The massive agents violently hauled her to her feet. She was dragged aggressively backward out of the ballroom, screaming and crying in total, undeniable humiliation in front of the exact high-society crowd she used to rule.
