Chapter 3 - The Paralyzed Mother

To understand the sheer, unhinged terror radiating from Nora, one had to look at the strict, violent rules of the Moretti estate.

Vincent didn't tolerate mistakes. He didn't tolerate messes. His previous housekeeper had been brutally fired and blacklisted from the city just for spilling coffee on a Persian rug. Nora had specifically been ordered by the head of staff to keep her child completely silent and entirely out of the boss’s sightline while she worked.

Now, her barefoot toddler was holding a shredded piece of garbage inches from his face.

"Mr. Vincent, I am so incredibly sorry!" Nora choked out, her voice trembling violently as she dropped to her knees on the marble floor, wrapping her arms protectively around Lucy. "I will pay for the mess! I'll clean it up right now! Please, please don't fire me!"

A medium close-up captured Vincent. He didn't yell. He didn't swat the child away. His dark, cold eyes slowly moved from the terrified, hyperventilating maid down to the tiny, bold girl standing her ground.

Vincent reached out his heavily tattooed hand. He didn't reach for Nora.

He gently took the shredded stuffed rabbit from Lucy's small hands.

Vincent inspected the ruined toy with intense, calculating seriousness, completely matching the toddler's energy. His notoriously intimidating, lethal demeanor visibly faltered. He didn't look at the cotton on his marble floor; he looked at the sheer, unapologetic bravery of a child demanding justice.

👉 Vincent slowly turned his head to look at the massive guard dog, preparing to deliver his terrifying verdict.
