Chapter 7 - The Ultimatum

The cinematic realism of the suffocating tension paralyzed the entire foyer.

Nora scrambled to grab Lucy's hand, desperately trying to bow her head in submission to save her job. "I'm so sorry, miss! We're leaving right now! I'll take her to the back rooms!"

"You aren't going anywhere, Nora," Vincent stated clinically, completely freezing the terrified maid in her tracks.

Vanessa’s jaw literally unhinged. She stared at Vincent in absolute, unadulterated shock. He was openly defending a low-level servant over his future bride.

"Are you serious right now?!" Vanessa wailed hysterically, pointing at her own diamond necklace. "I am the daughter of the Rossi family! You need my father's connections to secure the East Coast ports! You cannot humiliate me for a pathetic cleaning woman!"

Vincent slowly walked toward Vanessa. He didn't yell. The silence that radiated from his massive frame was infinitely more terrifying. He looked at the beautiful, arrogant woman he had been strategically arranged to marry, finally seeing the absolutely rotten, cruel soul hiding beneath her designer clothes.

"I want this woman fired immediately!" Vanessa screamed, completely losing control. "I want her and her brat thrown out on the street tonight, or I am calling my father and canceling the wedding!"
