Chapter 4 - The Stolen Rocks

"Leave her, Rosa," Marcus commanded smoothly, his voice a freezing, lethal calm that completely halted the terrified mother in her tracks.
The handsome, relaxed groom completely vanished, violently replaced by a terrifying, untouchable apex predator. He looked back down at the tiny girl, his dark eyes radiating absolute, serious intensity. He knew children didn't just walk up to strangers and issue warnings without a profound reason.
"Why shouldn't I marry her, Lily?" Marcus asked gently, completely ignoring his furious fiancée sitting across the table.
Lily completely ignored her weeping mother. She kept her small finger pointed directly at Diana, offering a subtle, incredibly powerful emotional pause before speaking the words that would destroy the entire empire.
"She took the shiny rocks from your desk," Lily stated clearly, her bold voice cutting through the heavy silence of the room.
Marcus physically stopped breathing. The warm, ambient lighting of the penthouse suddenly felt incredibly cold.
"What shiny rocks?" Marcus whispered, his jaw clenching tightly.
Lily pointed her finger toward Diana's expensive gold clutch resting on the white tablecloth. "She put the shiny rocks in her bag. I saw her in your office today. She told me she would lock me in the dark closet forever if I told you."
