Chapter 6 - The Corporate Espionage

"Marcus, don't you dare look through my personal property!" Diana shrieked wildly, desperately lunging across the crystal glasses and candles to grab her gold clutch.

But Marcus was significantly faster.

With blinding, terrifying speed, he snatched the expensive bag directly off the table. He didn't negotiate. He unclasped the clutch and aggressively dumped its entire contents directly onto the pristine white tablecloth in front of the city's most powerful elites.

Lipstick, a compact mirror, a sleek cell phone, and a few credit cards clattered loudly onto the table.

And right in the center of the mess fell a heavy, specialized titanium hard drive case covered in sparkling, decorative rhinestones.

The cinematic realism of the suffocating, paralyzing tension completely electrified the room.

Marcus stared at the "shiny rocks." It wasn't jewelry. It wasn't diamonds. It was the master encrypted hard drive containing his tech company's entire unreleased multi-billion-dollar patent. The drive was supposed to be locked inside a highly secured biometric safe inside his private office.

"You didn't just steal the drive," Marcus whispered coldly, completely devoid of human mercy as he looked at the woman he was supposed to marry. "You were going to sell it to the Sterling Group tomorrow morning."
