Chapter 7 - The Biometric Lock

"It was the maid!" Diana wailed hysterically, violently pointing her finger at Rosa again. Tears of pure, toxic panic streamed down her face, ruining her perfect makeup. "Rosa stole it! She put it in my bag to frame me! I swear to God, Marcus, they are setting me up!"
Marcus slowly turned his head. The sheer, unfiltered disgust on his face was absolutely paralyzing.
"Rosa has been my loyal housekeeper for five years," Marcus stated smoothly, his dark eyes flashing with lethal, corporate danger. "She doesn't even have the security clearance to access the private wing of this penthouse."
Diana stopped breathing. The air in the opulent dining room was completely sucked out.
"More importantly, Diana," Marcus continued, picking up the rhinestone-covered hard drive. "This drive was locked inside a Level 4 biometric safe. It requires my fingerprint, or the fingerprint of my legally registered proxy, to open. Rosa cannot open that safe. You can."
The entire crowd of wealthy billionaires stared at the disgraced heiress in sheer, absolute disgust.
Diana realized her massive, multi-million-dollar corporate espionage plot had just been completely dismantled, not by a rival CEO, but by a three-year-old child in a pink dress who simply noticed her stealing "shiny rocks."

"And you threatened to lock that innocent child in a dark closet if she exposed you," Marcus whispered, the lethal fury in his voice making the entire room violently flinch.
👉 Marcus reached into his tailored tuxedo jacket, completely ready to drop the ultimate federal guillotine.
