I swallowed hard, looking down at the hardwood floor. "I just didn't want you to be trapped, sir."

"Your job as a maid ended the second you caught that blanket," Alexander stated firmly, leaving absolutely no room for argument.

He reached into his pocket and placed a heavy, solid black titanium keycard into my hand.

"I bought the medical board that revoked your license," Alexander vowed, the absolute power of his massive wealth backing every syllable. "Your record is completely expunged. You are a registered nurse again."

I gasped, covering my mouth as tears immediately flooded my eyes.

"But you aren't going back to a hospital," Alexander continued, smiling warmly. "I am elevating you to the Director of my private medical foundation. I am quadrupling your salary, providing a private suite in this house, and you will have a fifty-million-dollar budget to help whoever you want. You are no longer the hired help. You are family."

Tears of pure, unadulterated relief and joy spilled down my cheeks.

I hadn't just saved a man from a wheelchair; I had secured a future I never dreamed possible.
