Chapter 3 - The Secret Recovery

To understand the absolute terror freezing Victoria’s blood, you had to understand what she had been doing in the shadows for the last twelve months.
When Alexander first woke up in the hospital paralyzed from the waist down, Victoria had immediately begun a ruthless, calculated campaign to isolate him. She fired his loyal staff. She blocked his friends from visiting. She told the board of directors that his brain had been damaged in the crash, slowly laying the legal groundwork to seize complete control of his massive corporate holding company.
But she had made one fatal mistake. She had hired me.
She thought I was just a naive, desperate girl who would keep her mouth shut for a paycheck.
She didn't know I was a registered nurse who had lost my license because I couldn't afford a massive legal fee after a corrupt doctor blamed me for his mistake. I desperately needed the money to pay off my debts.
Six months ago, while bathing Alexander, I noticed a slight, involuntary twitch in his right toe.
I didn't tell Victoria. I knew she would immediately hire a new, corrupt doctor to drug him into submission.
Instead, I started secretly rehabbing him in the middle of the night. While Victoria was out spending his millions at high-society galas, I was in the dark, helping Alexander stand. We worked in agonizing silence for months. Through sheer, unimaginable willpower and grueling pain, he regained his strength.
He had been fully capable of walking for three entire weeks.
He intentionally stayed in the wheelchair, playing the helpless victim, waiting for the perfect, public moment to expose the monsters in his house.
"Alexander..." Victoria choked out, her voice trembling with raw panic as she backed away. "You... you can walk?"

"I can," Alexander replied coldly, entirely dropping the gentle tone he used with me.
👉 Alexander looked at the terrified socialite, preparing to reveal the devastating secret hidden inside his tuxedo pocket.
