Chapter 2 - The Impossible Stand

The cinematic tension in the grand ballroom spiked to an absolute, paralyzing peak.
Victoria rolled her eyes, raising her manicured hand to slap me across the face for interfering with her cruel exhibition.
But she never got the chance.
Alexander didn't answer me. He didn't look at the blanket. He suddenly gripped the heavy armrests of the wheelchair. His expression shifted from helpless defeat to absolute, terrifying seriousness.
His knuckles turned bone-white. The muscles in his broad shoulders flexed beneath his tailored tuxedo jacket.
Slowly, fluidly, and with absolute, undeniable power, Alexander pushed himself out of the wheelchair.
He stood up.
He didn't stumble. He didn't wobble. He stood up to his full, towering height, completely towering over his cruel fiancée.
The entire grand ballroom plunged into a deafening, suffocating silence.
The wealthy guests physically staggered backward, their champagne glasses frozen halfway to their mouths. Dozens of people gasped in sheer, unadulterated shock.
Alexander had been in that wheelchair for exactly one year after a devastating car crash. The doctors had publicly declared he would never walk again. Victoria had spent the entire year treating him like a pathetic burden, eager to lock him away in a facility the second they were married so she could control his billionaire empire.
Alexander stood tall, completely ignoring the absolute chaos erupting around him. He casually, perfectly adjusted the cuffs of his tuxedo jacket with flawless composure.
Victoria’s jaw physically dropped. All the color violently drained from her perfectly contoured face. Her mocking smirk completely vanished, violently replaced by pure, apocalyptic terror.
Alexander didn't look at her. He didn't yell.
He slowly extended his large hand down to me, still kneeling on the hardwood floor with the plaid blanket. He offered me a warm, incredibly confident smile.
"Excuse me, sir," I stammered, completely shocked, expecting him to scold me.

"No, sweetheart," Alexander said gently, his deep voice carrying a titanium strength. "You don't bow to anyone here."
👉 Alexander pulled me to my feet, and the terrifying truth about his miraculous recovery was about to shatter Victoria's world.
