Chapter 8 - The Burgundy Arrest

Alexander’s private security detail had contacted the FBI the second he confirmed the poisoned pen that morning.

The heavy mahogany doors of the ballroom burst open. A dozen federal agents and local police officers swarmed into the grand room, their weapons drawn. Alexander calmly handed the lead detective the poisoned pen, sealed in a biohazard bag, the forged legal documents, and the micro-camera footage.

"Victoria Vance," the detective announced, reading the horrific evidence. "You are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, massive wire fraud, and attempted extortion."

"Don't touch me!" Victoria wailed hysterically as the officers forcefully hauled her to her feet.

They didn't let her change out of her elegant evening gown. They violently slapped heavy steel handcuffs over her wrists, completely snagging the delicate burgundy fabric and tearing the seam.

The officers dragged the screaming, thrashing socialite directly through the center of the grand ballroom. They paraded her in front of every single elite, wealthy guest she had tried to impress for the last year.

Because the media had been tipped off, news cameras flashed wildly outside the front doors. They captured the arrogant, cruel fiancée being shoved into the back of a police cruiser, weeping like a pathetic criminal.
