Chapter 1 - The Banquet Insult

The grand luxury gala ballroom was a cinematic masterpiece of extreme wealth and power. Massive crystal chandeliers cast a brilliant, warm glow over rows of elegant dining tables flanked by heavy gold chairs. The ambient sound of high-society chatter, string quartets, and clinking champagne glasses created a symphony of elite privilege.
Sitting at the very front VIP table was Vanessa. The thirty-something socialite was a striking figure, dripping in diamonds and wearing a luxurious, off-the-shoulder red silk evening gown, her dark hair swept up into an impeccable high updo.
Standing near her table was a young maid named Emma, looking incredibly nervous in her crisp black and white uniform.
Beside the maid stood Mrs. Carter. The seventy-year-old woman wore a modest, light purple formal dress and simple pearl earrings. Her short grey hair was perfectly styled, and in her frail, trembling hands, she held a small, round red object that looked like a wax seal.
Mrs. Carter had approached the VIP table to respectfully deliver a message, but Vanessa didn't even let the older woman speak.
Vanessa took a slow sip of her champagne, looking away dismissively. She didn't look at Mrs. Carter. She spoke directly to the maid.

👉 Vanessa thought she was just putting a poor old woman in her place, but she had no idea who was sitting two tables away.
