Chapter 3 - The Stolen Empire

The entire ballroom went dead silent. The warm candlelight seemed to flicker as the heavy, agonizing weight of Nathan’s words settled over the crowd.
Grace slowly lifted her head. Her dark eyes, red from unshed tears, looked up at the towering billionaire in the black tuxedo.
Vanessa stumbled backward, her manicured hands trembling. "What... what are you talking about? My father left the entire fashion house to me!"
"Your father left the fashion house to his biological daughter," Nathan corrected smoothly, his voice echoing off the marble walls. "He left it to the brilliant designer who actually built the brand from the ground up. He left it to Grace."
The guests gasped in unified, paralyzing shock.
Five years ago, the legendary founder of the city's largest luxury fashion brand had passed away. Everyone assumed Vanessa, his glamorous stepdaughter, was the rightful heir. Grace, the quiet, hardworking biological daughter, had simply vanished from the public eye.
"You forged the Will, Vanessa," Nathan stated, entirely devoid of human empathy. "You bribed the estate lawyers, locked Grace out of her own family’s bank accounts, and threatened to destroy her life if she ever fought you in court. You stole her entire empire and forced the rightful CEO to scrub clothes in a laundromat just to survive."
Vanessa’s face turned the color of wet chalk. She looked like she had just seen a ghost.
"He's lying!" Vanessa shrieked hysterically, pointing a shaking finger at Grace. "Look at her! She’s a street rat! She has no proof! You are trying to ruin my reputation!"

Nathan didn't argue. He slowly turned his back on the screaming socialite and looked down at the woman in the gray smock.
