Chapter 6 - The Financial Slaughter

Nathan tapped the screen of his phone, looking down at the weeping woman in gold.
"As of thirty minutes ago," Nathan announced smoothly, ensuring the entire elite crowd heard him, "my corporate acquisition team officially bought every single ounce of your company's debt. We seized the offshore accounts you used to hide the embezzled money. Your credit cards are declined. Your penthouse is currently being repossessed by the bank."
Vanessa’s eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated terror. The one thing she cared about more than human life—her stolen wealth and status—had just been entirely annihilated in a single sentence.
"You ruined me!" Vanessa screamed hysterically, her voice cracking with pure despair.
"No," Nathan corrected flawlessly. "I just transferred the assets back to their rightful owner."
Nathan turned to Grace. He gently took the silver flash drive from her trembling hand and slipped it safely into his pocket.
"I already sent the digital copies to the FBI's financial crimes division," Nathan stated, looking back at Vanessa. "And I sent the original Will directly to a federal judge. You aren't just completely bankrupt, Vanessa. You are going to federal prison for a very, very long time."
Vanessa realized she was completely, inescapably trapped. The high-society mask shattered into a million pieces.
