Chapter 7 - The Trap is Sprung

"You aren't testifying against anyone," Marcus replied coldly.
He didn't hit her. He didn't pull a weapon. He simply reached into his pocket, pulled out his smartphone, and hit a single button.
Suddenly, the heavy mahogany doors of the master suite burst open.
Four heavily armed, elite private security contractors—men who answered only to Marcus—marched into the room. They weren't wearing police uniforms. They were wearing tactical gear, their faces completely unreadable.
"Sir," the lead contractor said, lowering his weapon slightly.
"Take her to the basement," Marcus ordered, pointing at Margaret. "Strip her offshore accounts. Transfer every single dollar she stole back into Zion's trust fund. When you are done extracting the exact location of my stepbrother, hand her over to the federal authorities with the toxicology report and the blue folder. Tell the judge I want her in solitary confinement. Deny her bail."
"No! Please!" Margaret shrieked like a banshee, thrashing and kicking wildly as two massive contractors grabbed her by the arms, hauling her violently up from the floor.
"You wanted my son to stop breathing," Marcus whispered into the cold air. "Now you get to suffocate in a concrete box for the rest of your miserable life."
Margaret’s desperate, pathetic cries faded down the long hallways, ending her reign of greed and cruelty forever.
The master suite fell into a profound, heavy, and incredibly peaceful silence.

Marcus stood alone in the room, letting out a long, shuddering breath. The exhausting weight of the betrayal was finally lifted. He had his answers. He had his justice. But he still had one more thing he needed to fix.
