Chapter 2 - The Grieving Tycoon
To understand why a simple accident in a ballroom was about to trigger an explosive, violent confrontation, one had to look back at the suffocating, terrifying shadow hanging over the wealthy family.
Ethan, Noah's father, was a thirty-nine-year-old billionaire tech mogul. He was an incredibly handsome man with a tall, powerful muscular build and swept-back dark hair, wearing a stunning royal-blue velvet suit with a black satin lapel. To the outside world, Ethan was a commanding, ruthless, and absolutely untouchable king of industry.
But behind the closed, heavily fortified doors of his mansion, Ethan was a man consumed by profound grief and blinding paranoia.
Two years ago, Ethan’s wife had been killed in what the police officially ruled a "tragic car accident." But Ethan, knowing the ruthless nature of the corporate syndicates he routinely dismantled, always believed it was a targeted assassination. Since that dark day, his entire universe had shrunk down to one single, obsessive mission: protecting his son, Noah, at absolutely any cost.
He trusted no one. He hired an army of private security contractors, installed heavily encrypted surveillance cameras in every hallway, and ruthlessly vetted every single member of the domestic staff.
Elena had been hired a year ago. She had consistently proven herself to be warm, dedicated, and deeply caring toward Noah, helping the little boy slowly heal from the loss of his mother. But despite her genuine kindness, Ethan remained incredibly distant and suspicious, viewing her merely as an employee who could potentially be compromised by his enemies.
He was constantly on edge, constantly waiting for the invisible assassins to strike his family again.
