Chapter 7 - The Master Plan

Ethan stared at the gold cufflink resting in the palm of the maid's hand.
The meaning behind her words crashed into his brain with the force of a freight train. The massive, towering crystal pyramid hadn't been pushed to crush a five-year-old boy. That would have been a sloppy, highly unpredictable assassination method.
The tower was a trap, specifically designed for Ethan.
The traitor inside his inner circle knew Ethan's absolute, blinding paranoia regarding his son. They knew that if the massive glass structure began to fall anywhere near the boy, Ethan would instinctively, blindly sprint forward to shield Noah with his own body.
The plan was for Ethan to dive under the falling glass. In the resulting chaos, blood, and confusion of the collapsing tower, the large security guard with the tattooed neck would step forward, pretending to offer medical assistance, and quietly, permanently eliminate the billionaire CEO while the crowd was distracted by the sheer destruction.
But the plan had completely failed because of one single, unexpected variable: the maid.
Elena had reacted faster than Ethan. She had pulled Noah entirely out of the danger zone before Ethan could even register the threat, completely bypassing the lethal trap and leaving the security guard exposed and out of position.
