Chapter 9 - The Executioner's Standoff

Final low-angle money shot: The massive, towering double doors of the grand ballroom suddenly, violently slammed completely shut, the heavy brass locks clicking into place with a deafening, terrifying finality just seconds before the large security man could reach them.

The guard skidded to a halt on the polished marble floor.

From the shadows flanking the doorway, two massive, heavily armed elite bodyguards—men completely loyal exclusively to Ethan—calmly and simultaneously stepped directly in front of the locked exit. They didn't draw their weapons. They simply crossed their arms, their massive frames forming an impenetrable, solid wall of muscle and dark suits, entirely blocking any chance of escape.

The large security man with the tattooed neck was completely, utterly trapped inside a room filled with the billionaire's loyalists.

He slowly turned around, his broad chest heaving, his fists clenching as he faced the center of the room.

Ethan was walking slowly, deliberately across the ballroom floor. He reached up and smoothly, methodically removed his expensive, royal-blue velvet jacket, letting it drop carelessly onto a nearby champagne table. He stood in his crisp, fitted dress shirt, his tall, muscular frame radiating the absolute, terrifying aura of a predator preparing to completely dismantle its prey.
