Chapter 6 - The Golden Clue

Elena slowly knelt down, her deep emerald-green satin blouse rustling softly.
She reached out and carefully picked up the small, glittering object from the polished marble floor.
Macro close-up: It was a heavy, incredibly expensive solid gold cufflink. Etched deeply and immaculately into the front of the gold surface was Ethan’s distinct, ancient family crest.
Elena frowned, her sharp, observant mind racing. She turned the heavy piece of jewelry over in her hand. On the flat back of the cufflink was a tiny, perfectly engraved, hyper-realistic photograph of Ethan’s face.
It was a highly customized, profoundly personal piece of jewelry. Elena knew exactly what it was because she had seen Ethan wearing them before. He had specifically commissioned a small, limited batch of these exact cufflinks, gifting them exclusively to the five most trusted, highest-ranking members of his inner corporate circle as a symbol of absolute, unbreakable loyalty.
Elena stood up, holding the gold cufflink out toward Ethan. Her expression wasn't fearful; it was sharp, analytical, and entirely focused.
