Chapter 5 - The Shadowed Predator

The entire ballroom plunged into a dead, terrifying silence.
Ethan followed the exact direction of his son's pointing finger. The camera perspective pushed intensely through the crowd of shocked, wealthy guests, scanning the perimeter of the magnificent room.
There, slipping quietly and deliberately through the shadows near the grand exit doors, was a massive man. He possessed a huge, intimidating muscular build, a completely shaved head, and heavy, intricate dark tattoos wrapping thickly around his neck. He was wearing the official dark suit of Ethan’s elite private security detail.
The man was actively, quietly backing toward the exit, his eyes darting nervously across the room, desperate to escape before the chaos completely settled.
Ethan’s blood ran entirely cold.
This wasn't a tragic accident. This wasn't a structural failure of a champagne tower. This was a deliberate, calculated, and highly organized attempt on his family's life, executed by a man who was supposed to be protecting them. The paranoia that had consumed Ethan for two years was instantly, violently validated. The invisible assassins were real, and they had successfully infiltrated his own home.
While Ethan was locked in a terrifying stare-down with the retreating security guard, Elena noticed something unusual.
