Chapter 4 - The Public Sanctuary

Hannah knew that if she went to a random clinic, Grant’s massive corporate influence would allow him to intercept her medical records and finish the assassination quietly.

She needed witnesses. She needed cameras. She needed the loyal medical staff who had loved her late husband.

Covered in bruises and fighting through excruciating pain, Hannah drove herself directly to her own workplace. She walked through the automatic sliding doors of the hospital at the beginning of the morning shift, wearing her green scrubs to blend in with the chaos of the changing staff.

When Paige and the other triage nurses saw her battered face, they gasped in horror, immediately trying to pull her into a trauma bay.

But before they could admit her, Grant descended from his executive suite like a vulture.

He had received a frantic call from his hired thugs stating that the target had escaped. When Grant saw Hannah leaning against the medication cart, very much alive and still heavily pregnant, pure panic ignited in his chest. He knew that if she was admitted as a patient, standard protocol required mandatory police reports and forensic documentation of her assault injuries. The investigation would inevitably lead back to his bank accounts.

He had to get her off the property immediately. He had to terminate her employment and have security physically drag her out to the street where his men were waiting to intercept her.
