Chapter 5 - The Unstoppable Code

When the amniotic fluid hit the polished vinyl floor, Grant’s entire corrupt universe violently collapsed.

"Someone call obstetrics!" Paige screamed, her young face pale with terror as she realized the gravity of the situation.

Grant stumbled backward, his sharp navy suit suddenly feeling like a straightjacket. He wasn't looking at a fired employee anymore; he was looking at an active, critical medical emergency occurring directly inside his own facility. Federal law and hospital policy dictated that any woman in active labor must be immediately treated. She could no longer be classified as a trespassing former employee. She was now a high-priority patient.

"Security!" Grant bellowed, desperately trying to regain control of the narrative. "She is a terminated liability! Get her a wheelchair and escort her to the county hospital across town! Do not admit her here!"

The shocked onlookers in the background froze, entirely bewildered by the administrator's cruel, illegal command.

Hannah groaned, sinking to her knees as another massive, agonizing contraction ripped through her body. She clutched the wheels of the medication cart, her knuckles turning bone-white. The stress of the brutal assault the night before had triggered early labor, and the baby was coming fast.
