Chapter 5 - The Pat-Down

The waitress stood near the kitchen doors, watching the mahogany table with sheer, unadulterated terror.
Dominic took a slow sip of his whiskey. He looked at Caleb, his paranoia completely taking over. He had spent his entire life trusting absolutely no one, especially not the son he had constantly degraded and abused.
"You're acting strange tonight, Caleb," Dominic whispered coldly.
Dominic didn't wait for Caleb to write a response on a notepad. He snapped his fingers.
The lead bodyguard instantly stepped forward, violently grabbing Caleb’s shoulder and pulling him forcefully out of his chair.
"Check him," Dominic commanded flawlessly, entirely devoid of human empathy for his own flesh and blood.
Caleb’s eyes widened in pure, breathless panic. He tried to pull away, but the massive bodyguard pinned his arms behind his back right in the middle of the luxury dining room. The wealthy guests gasped in shock, but nobody dared to intervene against Dominic Vale's men.
The bodyguard aggressively patted down Caleb’s tailored suit jacket. His massive hand immediately felt the heavy, undeniable shape of the suppressed handgun.
He violently ripped the weapon out of Caleb's pocket, slamming it onto the mahogany table directly in front of the crime boss.
