Chapter 7 - The Desperate Play

The waitress didn't scream. She didn't call 911, knowing the corrupt local police were entirely on Dominic’s payroll. They would arrive just in time to help him hide Caleb's body.

She had exactly three minutes before the bodyguards executed Caleb in the basement.

The waitress quickly grabbed a fresh bottle of incredibly expensive, rare red wine from the bar. She uncorked it smoothly, her hands steady despite the sheer, blinding terror vibrating through her veins.

She walked directly back to Dominic’s table, completely ignoring the fact that she was stepping into the most dangerous situation of her life.

Dominic glared up at her. "I didn't order wine."

"It's complimentary, Mr. Vale," the waitress replied flawlessly, her voice completely calm and professional. "For the disturbance."

She began to pour the dark red wine into his crystal glass.

But as she poured, she casually, deliberately knocked her elbow against the heavy suppressed handgun sitting on the table. The weapon slid slightly across the polished mahogany, bumping directly into Dominic’s cell phone.

Dominic’s eyes darted down to his phone. The screen had lit up.
