Chapter 8 - The Bride's Downfall

Arthur didn't scream. He didn't curse. He simply closed the leather journal and slipped it into his suit pocket.
"Security," Arthur said, his voice terrifyingly calm.
The head of security stepped forward immediately. "Yes, Mr. Sterling?"
"Lock the doors to the ballroom. Do not let Victoria or her three bridesmaids leave this room."
The three women in the silver gowns panicked, trying to bolt toward the exit, but the heavy oak doors were instantly slammed shut by the guards.
"Arthur, you can't do this to me!" Victoria sobbed, her carefully crafted facade completely shattering. She fell to her knees on the glossy marble floor, the exact way the bridesmaids had earlier. "I love you! I did everything for you! I just wanted us to be a family!"
"You locked my son in a dark closet," Arthur whispered, stepping closer to her. "You tormented a six-year-old boy. And you poisoned the only woman I ever truly loved."
Arthur pulled his cell phone from his pocket and dialed 911. He put the phone on speaker for the entire room to hear.
"This is Arthur Sterling," he said into the phone. "I am at the Grand Plaza Ballroom. I have overwhelming physical evidence of a homicide that occurred two years ago, along with child abuse. Send the police immediately."
Victoria let out a guttural, horrific scream. She lunged forward, trying to grab the phone, but two security guards tackled her to the floor, pinning her beautiful white dress against the cold marble.
Arthur turned his back on the screaming woman. He had absolutely nothing left to say to her.
