Chapter 10 - The Queen's Dinner

The heavy mahogany front doors slammed shut. The flashing red and blue lights of the police cruisers illuminated the driveway as Madison was immediately handcuffed and thrown into the back of a squad car, weeping in her ruined designer dress.
Daniel was left standing on the curb in the cold night air, completely penniless, abandoned by his investors, his wife, and his mother.
Inside the mansion, the heavy, suffocating tension finally evaporated.
The luxury dining room was quiet, peaceful, and entirely under Helen's control.
Helen let out a long, steady breath, smoothing down the lapels of her navy jacket. She looked at Mr. Sterling, offering him a warm, genuine smile.
"Would you care to join me for dinner, Mr. Sterling?" Helen asked graciously. "The caterers prepared far too much food for just one old woman."
"It would be an honor, ma'am," the lawyer smiled respectfully, taking a seat at the glass table.
A few moments later, the head chef walked out of the kitchen. He didn't serve a cold, gray scrap of meat. He placed a massive, steaming, perfectly cooked ribeye steak on a pristine porcelain plate right in front of Helen.

Helen picked up her expensive silverware. She took a bite of the warm, delicious meal, surrounded by loyal staff and absolute safety. She had reclaimed her empire, protected her husband’s legacy, and proven that kindness should never be mistaken for weakness.
Do you think Daniel deserved to be thrown out on the streets with absolutely nothing, or should Helen have given her son a second chance?
