Chapter 9 - The Eviction

Madison realized the fifty-million-dollar investment was gone. The twelve million she stole was frozen. She had absolutely nothing left.

"Helen, please!" Madison sobbed pathetically, dropping to her knees on the marble floor. Her sequined dress pooled around her as she crawled toward the seventy-year-old widow. "I'll give the money back! Just don't press charges! Let me stay here!"

Helen looked down at the weeping woman. She remembered the cold scrap of meat. She remembered the cruel insults in the hallway.

"Mr. Sterling," Helen said, her voice echoing with absolute, unstoppable power. "Have the police been notified regarding the embezzlement?"

"Yes, ma'am," the ruthless lawyer nodded. "Detectives are waiting at the bottom of the driveway. Miss Madison is facing twenty years in federal prison for wire fraud."

Madison let out a horrific, blood-curdling scream of pure despair.

Helen turned to the massive private security guards standing in the room.

"Remove them both from my property," Helen ordered flawlessly. "They are not permitted to pack a single bag. They leave with exactly what they are wearing."

"Mom, please!" Daniel wept, reaching out for her. "I'm your son! I have nowhere to go! You can't throw me out on the street!"

"You threw me away a long time ago, Daniel," Helen replied, completely devoid of maternal sympathy.

The security guards moved with blinding speed. They grabbed Daniel and Madison by the arms, violently hauling them away from the glass dining table.
