Chapter 7 - The True Apology

The vast mansion hallway was suddenly incredibly quiet, the only sound the soft, festive hum of the Christmas tree lights.
Claire was still kneeling on the marble, shaking violently, terrified that the mafia boss was going to turn his legendary wrath on her next.
But Adrian didn't look like a terrifying kingpin anymore. He looked profoundly apologetic, deeply respectful, and overwhelmingly moved.
He slowly crouched down right in front of Claire, completely ignoring the fact that his expensive trousers were touching the floor. He didn't look at her like a servant. He looked at her as a mother who had just endured hell for her child.
"I am so incredibly sorry," Adrian said quietly, his deep voice carrying a rare, genuine warmth that shocked Claire to her core. "I had absolutely no idea she was treating my staff like that. It will never, ever happen again."
Claire blinked away her tears, completely stunned by the mafia boss's humanity. "Thank you, Mr. Moretti. I... I just wanted to give her a good Christmas."
Adrian looked at Lucy, who was now happily clutching the red toy car. He then looked at his son, Owen, who was smiling proudly.
"Owen," Adrian said gently, looking at his son with profound, unconditional love. "That was the bravest, kindest thing I have ever seen a man do. I am incredibly proud of you."
Owen beamed, his chest puffing out with pride.
