Chapter 9 - The Christmas Miracle

The bright, beautiful Christmas morning sun illuminated the grand Chicago mansion.

Lucy woke up in the staff quarters, clutching her red toy car. When she and Claire walked out into the main hallway, the little girl completely stopped breathing.

Underneath the towering Christmas tree, right next to the massive pile of silver and red gifts, was an entirely new mountain of presents wrapped in bright, beautiful pink paper, with a massive tag that explicitly read: For Lucy.

Lucy gasped, her eyes widening in pure, unfiltered joy. She ran to the tree, completely entirely consumed by the magic of the morning.

Adrian and Owen walked down the grand staircase. Adrian was wearing sweatpants and a simple t-shirt, completely devoid of his terrifying mafia persona. He sat on the sofa with a cup of coffee, watching with a genuine, warm smile as his son sat on the floor, helping Lucy tear open boxes of toys.

Claire stood by the doorway, her heart absolutely overflowing with profound, heavy gratitude. The man she worked for wasn't a monster. He was a fiercely loyal protector who had completely saved her family.

Adrian completely transformed. He didn't rule his empire with ruthless, blind ignorance anymore. He took full control of his household, ensuring every single person who worked for him was treated with absolute, undeniable dignity.

Mrs. Higgins was permanently blacklisted from every wealthy estate in the state, facing heavy fraud charges after Adrian’s accountants audited her ledgers and discovered she had been stealing from the staff for years. She was completely, totally ruined.
