Chapter 1 - The Shattered Glass

The grand ballroom was a breathtaking, cinematic display of absolute, untouchable wealth. Warm, glowing light poured from the massive crystal chandeliers, reflecting flawlessly off the pristine white marble floor. But the sophisticated atmosphere of the multi-million-dollar charity gala had violently devolved into a sickening, heartbreaking display of public humiliation.

Laurel, a beautiful twenty-something assistant with her dark blonde hair pinned up, was kneeling completely exposed on the cold marble floor.

She wore a faded, light blue silk dress, but the fabric was aggressively torn up the entire right side seam. The violent rip completely exposed her leg and undergarments to the entire room. She desperately held the torn fabric together with trembling hands, her knuckles turning completely white as she tried to cover her dignity.

Broken champagne glasses and spilled alcohol littered the floor dangerously close to her bare knees.

Standing directly above Laurel was her ruthless employer, Celeste. The forty-something socialite wore a heavily tailored black designer gown and a thick, incredibly expensive diamond necklace. She didn't look horrified or sympathetic. Celeste was aggressively pointing her manicured finger at the weeping assistant, laughing maliciously as dozens of wealthy, elite guests gathered around to mock the poor girl.

"For heaven’s sake, Laurel," Celeste sneered coldly, ensuring the entire VIP section could hear her toxic cruelty. "Get up. You're embarrassing me."

A tight close-up captured Laurel fighting back humiliated tears, her chin trembling violently.

"My dress caught," Laurel whispered, her voice cracking with pure, suffocating panic as she refused to let go of the torn silk.

👉 Celeste raised her champagne glass to toast the girl's humiliation, entirely unaware that the most dangerous man in the city was watching.
