Chapter 2 - The Silent Crowd

The cinematic realism of the terrifying, suffocating tension completely electrified the grand ballroom.

Suddenly, the chaotic, mocking laughter violently stopped in a fraction of a second. The wealthy, elite crowd physically staggered backward, parting in absolute, dead silence like the Red Sea. The arrogant millionaires lowered their champagne glasses, sheer, breathless terror washing over their powdered faces.

Walking straight down the center of the parted crowd was Damian.

He was a highly muscular, incredibly handsome thirty-something man wearing a sharp, flawless black suit and an unbuttoned white shirt. Heavy, intimidating tattoos crept up his neck and across his knuckles. He wasn't a billionaire donor at the charity gala. He was the most feared, ruthless, and untouchable mafia boss in the entire city.

Damian completely ignored the terrified billionaires. He didn't even look at the arrogant socialite.

He walked straight past Celeste and knelt directly on the marble floor right in front of the trembling, weeping assistant.

A medium close-up captured Damian gracefully slipping off his heavy, incredibly expensive black suit jacket. Without saying a single word, he gently draped the warm fabric over Laurel's shaking shoulders, perfectly covering her torn blue dress and completely restoring her dignity.

Laurel looked up at him in absolute, stunned disbelief. She had never met this terrifying titan in her entire life.

Damian held her tear-filled gaze with a calm, fierce, and utterly undeniable protectiveness.

"I've got you," Damian whispered softly, his deep voice meant only for her.

👉 Celeste physically staggered backward, completely failing to realize she had just triggered her own apocalyptic destruction.
