Chapter 10 - The Queen Restored

"Guards! Shoot him! Shoot them all!" Vivienne screamed frantically, waving her arms wildly toward the cartel mercenaries she had secretly smuggled into the party.

But they didn't move. They were already disarmed, zip-tied, and pinned to the floor in the corners of the ballroom by Silas’s loyal, heavily armed enforcers. There was absolutely no escape. Her entire hostile takeover had been violently dismantled in an hour.

Silas stood towering over the weeping, pathetic woman on the stairs.

"You took three years of my life," Silas whispered, his voice radiating cinematic realism. "You tortured my wife in the dark. You tried to steal my empire with a smile on your face."

"Please, Silas! I loved you!" Vivienne begged, crawling pathetically on the marble floor, her expensive white dress ruined by the spilled champagne. "I did it for us!"

"Take her to the East Wing," Silas commanded his men, his face an emotionless mask of stone. "Lock her in the exact same cell. Weld the heavy steel door shut. And throw away the tools."

"No! Please! You can't do this!" Vivienne’s horrifying screams echoed through the mansion as the massive guards violently dragged her down the stairs and away into the darkness forever.

Silas walked up to the landing. He gently wrapped his massive, tattooed arms around Elena and Lily. The nightmare was finally over. The king had his true queen back, the innocent child had a real family, and the empire was secure once more.

If you were Elena, would you have ever found the strength to survive three years in the dark, or would you have given up hope?
