Chapter 8 - The Engagement Announcement

The grand luxury hallway and the adjoining ballroom were packed with wealthy guests holding crystal champagne flutes. The chandeliers glowed brilliantly over the elite crowd.
Vivienne stood triumphantly at the top of the grand sweeping staircase. She wore a stunning, custom-made white designer dress, looking like a flawless, untouchable queen. She tapped her glass with a silver spoon, demanding the room’s attention.
"Thank you all for coming," Vivienne announced, her voice echoing with toxic arrogance. "Today is a beautiful day. Silas and I are officially announcing our union. The Thorne empire will finally be whole, and stronger than ever."
The crowd erupted into polite, enthusiastic applause.
But suddenly, the applause died into a suffocating silence.
Silas stepped out from the corridor at the bottom of the stairs. He wasn't wearing a celebratory tuxedo. He was wearing the exact same tight black button-down shirt, his sleeves rolled up to expose his dark tattoos, radiating a cinematic aura of pure, unadulterated death.
He didn't smile. He stared up at the woman in the white dress with eyes as cold as a grave.
