Chapter 9 - The Ghost Appears

Vivienne’s arrogant, victorious smile faltered into a look of deep confusion.
"Silas, darling, what are you doing?" Vivienne laughed nervously, looking at the staring crowd. "You're embarrassing us. Come up here."
"You embarrassed yourself the moment you locked my wife in a basement for three years," Silas commanded, his voice vibrating with a demonic fury that made the nearest guests physically step backward.
The elite crowd gasped in sheer, suffocating horror.
All the color violently drained from Vivienne's face. The champagne glass slipped from her fingers, shattering against the marble steps. She took a frantic step backward, her perfectly contoured face twisting in panic.
"You're insane!" Vivienne shrieked defensively. "Elena is dead! You saw the ashes in the warehouse!"
"I saw the ashes of the innocent servant you murdered to fake her death," Silas corrected coldly, stopping just one step below her.
He snapped his fingers.
At the top of the staircase, the heavy oak doors of the penthouse swung open. Silas’s elite guards stepped out, gently escorting a frail but fiercely dignified Elena. She was wearing a beautiful silk robe, holding little Lily securely by the hand.
